Local Television is Still Alive

Ana Berry hosting the TV show, Tulsa Living.

Why is television NOT dead in Tulsa? Because there is still a massive demographic of people who keep their TV’s on all day (like my mom) and tune in for the news, local stories and some political commentary (Fox News vs CNN). But TV is not just for the Baby Boomer generation (Hi again, Mom!) there is a resurgence of local television content coming back to Tulsa, in a way, it really never left. Tulsa, Oklahoma, is a city that is rapidly growing and changing, with a diverse population that is becoming increasingly tech-savvy and interested in media. As such, the television market in Tulsa has a long rich history and I am part of that history. My mom (I am mentioning her a lot) Beth Rengel was a pioneer in TV in Tulsa. She started at KTUL then went on to KJRH and KOTV, boasting a 30+ year career in TV in Tulsa. BUT…. this blog is not about her, even though I will dedicate one to her in a moment. This blog is about moi and my TV career here in Tulsa. Let me tell you why I love being a television host in Tulsa.

As a television host for a local TV show in Tulsa, Oklahoma, you have the opportunity to connect with the community and share their stories with a wide audience. Being a TV host in Tulsa means that you are not only a representative of the station you work for, but also of the city itself.

One of the great things about being a TV host in Tulsa is the sense of community you feel. Tulsa is a vibrant city with a rich history and culture, and there are countless individuals and organizations doing amazing work in the area. As a TV host, you have the opportunity to shine a spotlight on these individuals and their work, which in turn can help inspire and inform others.

One important aspect of being a TV host in Tulsa is understanding the local culture and values. Tulsa has a unique history and identity, and being able to connect with viewers in a way that is authentic and relatable is key. Whether you're hosting a news program or a lifestyle show, you'll need to be able to communicate with viewers in a way that resonates with them and speaks to their experiences.

Ultimately, being a TV host in Tulsa is an exciting and rewarding career. Whether you're passionate supporting local lifestyle programming, like the shows I host, Tulsa Living on KJRH, I Want Answers, Food Fight and Film Noir Theater on RSUTV, and Good Day Tulsa on KTUL, its a way to connect with the community and share their stories with the world. I feel like I am making a small difference in the lives of our local viewers.
